Exhibition Opening

Monday, October 14, 2019

Doors open at 6:30 PM

Hungarian House of New York

213 E 82nd St, New York, NY 10028

Celebrate with us the grandiose achievements of Hungarian architect and designer Marcel Breuer, the master of Bauhaus with a photo exhibition of his greatest American buildings, which have influenced generations of architects shaping modern-day cityscapes.

Celebratory remarks and an exclusive guided tour by Dr. Oliver A. I. Botar, Professor of modern art at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada.

In 2019, the Hungarian Cultural Center in New York commemorates the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Bauhaus movement. One of its biggest talents, Marcel Breuer started his career as the designer master of Bauhaus to become one of the most renowned US resident architects.

The exhibition Fragile Brutalism of Marcel Breuer, curated by Sára Zalányi, features the delicately narrow photographs taken by Ágnes Mezősi, showing the delicate force which permeated all his works and continues to impact American and international architecture to this day.

The opening ceremony is followed by a reception.

Admission is free.

Kindly RSVP by October 9: rsvp@culturehungary.org

Organized by the Hungarian Cultural Center, New York.
