St. Stephen of Hungary Catholic Community

St-Josephs-Catholic-ChurchSt. Stephen of Hungary Church in New York was incorporated in 1902. At the present, since September, 2015 it offers Holy Mass on Sundays at St. Joseph’s Church in the Hungarian language. At the same location children and adults may prepare for First Holy Communion. Baptisms and funeral services are also held in Hungarian. Sunday Mass is celebrated by Fathers Imre Juhasz and Ivan Csete, alternating weekly. Fr. Imre Juhasz is coming to us from New Jersey.

The Mass is enhanced by the masterful organ music of the well-known Mr. Alessandro Russo and the joint singing of the faithful. Sunday Mass starts at 2:00 p.m. Confessions are heard 1/2 hour before the beginning of Mass.

The community’s organizations are having a coffee hour after Mass for the participants. In addition to coffee, sandwiches, home-made biscuits, and pastries are served. Donation is up to the generosity of the faithful. On the occasion of an episcopal visit or of a major national celebration, the spacious halls of the school or of the church may be used.
