At Dawn Above Budapest, with author Szilárd Szíl

Join us for a reading and meet the author Szilárd Szíl, who will discuss the inspiration behind writing his novel "At Dawn above Budapest".

The story is based on two main characters: one is Rezső, a successful lawyer living in Seattle, whose ancestors fled the Holocaust and the 1956 reprisals, and the other is Áron, an alcoholic intellectual who moved from Brassó to Budapest, and after a few years became homeless in the Hungarian capital. The two characters drift together, experience a series of tragicomic events, and confront the contradictions of today.

A történet két főszereplőre épül: az egyik Rezső, a Seattle-ben élő sikeres ügyvéd, akinek ősei a holokauszt és az 1956-os megtorlások elől menekültek, a másik pedig Áron, egy alkoholista értelmiségi, aki Brassóból Budapestre költözött, majd néhány év múlva hajléktalanná vált a magyar fővárosban. A két szereplő egymáshoz sodródik, tragikomikus események sorozatát éli át, és szembesül a mai kor ellentmondásaival.
