About the Event - Részletek

You are invited to join us for an evening of humor, drama, and joy to celebrate the essence and history of operetta and modern musicals. In the heart of Manhattan's "Little Hungary" neighborhood, we will fuse the delightful American spirit of Broadway with the charms and Hungarian heritage of operetta.
Based on "Illatszertár" (Parfumerie) by László Miklos, Blue Hill Troupe will preview their performance of SHE LOVES ME by Jeff Masteroff / Jerry Bock, along with a Hungarian operetta homage to Jenő Huszka and Imre Kálmán.
She Loves Me is a charming romantic comedy that sparkles with wit, warmth, and just the right touch of whimsy. Set in Budapest, in an elegant 1930s perfume shop, it follows two feuding co-workers who are unknowingly falling in love through anonymous letters. Meanwhile, other co-workers are canoodling quite openly, and they have their own less-than-spotless back-stories.
With mistaken identities, honest confessions, and show-stopping songs, this timeless musical is full of laugh-out-loud moments, swoon-worthy romance, a little bawdiness, at least one gunshot, and fingers-crossed hope. The musical itself is based on the 1937 play Parfumerie by Miklós László, which spawned many popular iterations, including the film You've Got Mail.
With music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, and a heart-warming Joe Masteroff book, the score ranges from all-time Broadway hits ("Vanilla Ice Cream") to heavily Hungarian-influenced numbers like "A Romantic Atmosphere."
