International Women's Day Event (in Hungarian)

Checkmates & Curtain-Calls, Hungarian Women in Focus

with Susan Polgár (Chess master), Lili Bordán (Actor), and Alexandra Balogh (Pianist).

moderated by: dr. Andrea Novák, esq. - Diaspora consul, Hungarian Consulate NY

Celebrate International Women’s Day with an inspiring, community-centered conversation spotlighting Hungarian-origin women who have achieved excellence across disciplines; from the intensity of competitive chess to the artistry of acting and the precision of music.

Join us for a lively, moderated panel featuring special guests including Lili Bordán and Zsuzsa Polgár, along with other accomplished Hungarian and Hungarian-American women. Together, they’ll share personal origin stories, the behind-the-scenes habits that build mastery, lessons from setbacks and reinvention, and the role heritage and community play in shaping a life of purpose and impact.

Expect a warm, structured format with plenty of personality: guided discussion, a fun lightning round, and time for audience Q&A. Whether you’re a student, artist, professional, parent, or lifelong community member, you’ll leave with practical takeaways and a deeper sense of what’s possible when women support women.

Duration: 60 minutes

Format: Moderated discussion + lightning round + audience Q&A

Perfect for: Community members of all ages, families, students, and friends of Hungarian culture
