50th Annual Hungarian Festival Warm Up event, Manhattan
The band plays Hungarian folk music primarily in a style that preserves traditions. Their repertoire includes music from Transylvania, Upper Hungary, Southern Hungary, and Little Hungary. In addition to playing together, Dűvő also collect and teach folk music. Come early and attend the "Being Hungarian in America II." book launch at 6pm, and the Dancing Brushstrokes art exhibition opening reception at 7pm!
Mit jelent a DŰVŐ? Azon túl, hogy egy salgótarjáni székhelyű zenekar.
A dűvő, ősi indogermán eredetű szó. Duo, two, zwei, dua. Kettőt jelent.
A magyar népzenében a muzsikusoknál, egyfajta játékmód.
Csárdásokat, verbunkokat, lassabb táncokat kísérnek dűvővel. A brácsás és bőgős játssza.
A zenekar magyar népzenét játszik elsősorban hagyományokat őrző stílusban. Repertoárjukban erdélyi, felvidéki, délvidéki, kis magyarországi muzsikákat népszerűsítenek. Az együtt muzsikálás mellett népzene gyűjtéssel és tanítással is foglalkoznak.
A zenekar több rangos kitüntetés birtokosa: többek között "Nógrád megye príma díja" Madách díj, Többszörös Kiváló együttes, "Népművészet ifjú mestere" Salgótarján pro arte, pro urbe díja.
Népszerűsítették már a magyar népzenét a világ számos országában, USA, Mexikó, Brazília, Uruguay, Chíle, Argentína, Európa szinte minden országában.
