The fantastic Hungarian band Életfa, with Heki and Joe Tampa, will lead off the Spring Sneaker Ball Fundraiser festivities, and will feature a lively Cimbalom performance. At 6pm DJ Sizare will step on stage to spin the best Hungarian and English party tunes. There will be loads of activities and treats for children and adults of all ages. The night will end-off with a lively folk dance house (táncház) with special guests Kalán Andrea and Balázsi Gábor, from 8:30pm to 10pm.

While all footwear will be welcome during our event to raise money to repair our beloved community center, there will be preference for sneaker-wear on this special occasion, coinciding with our sneaker drive fundraiser.
For every donated used sneaker, the Hungarian House will receive much needed funds for the maintenance of our cherished community and cultural center. Before you toss your used sneakers in the trash, set it aside, and bring it by our deposit box.

Életfa, which means the Tree of Life, symbolizes the core mission and passion of the band, which is to preserve the past while passing it on to the next generation. Életfa’s performs at a wide range of venues, from concert halls, outdoor festivals, museums to Táncházes (“Dance Houses,” or Hungarian folk dance parties). They are dedicated to spreading their joy of authentic Hungarian folk music, song and dance from the villages of present day and historic Hungary to audiences of all ages, within the Hungarian community and throughout North America. The Életfa musicians that will be joining us at the Sneaker Ball will be Dr. József Horváth "Tampa", József Gartai "Heki" on Cimbalom, Raul Rothblatt, György Kalán, and guest Melinda McCarthy (Melush) on Koboz.
DJ Sizare, M.Ó.K.A. Podcast:
Sizare (Peter Kiss) started his DJ career in Hungary around 1989 as a student of Laci Gonda. Later he collaborated with Tamas Jutasi, with whom he performed at the DMC DJ competition in 1992 and won a special award. He has entertained audiences in many legendary venues. In the US, he has become a indispensable part of the American Hungarian Citizens' League of Garfield, NJ, both as a leadership capacity and as a resident DJ. His team has helped pay the club's towering debts. He regularly organizes cultural events to enrich the programming of the local Hungarian community and has been invited to perform in many other states as well. His varied musical style is guaranteed to please his audience.
